Mama Canella and baby (we’re waiting on his real name, but in the meanwhile, he’s Twinkle Toes because of his one golden foot) are both well, happy, comfortable and content. The mountain has been good to them today, blessing them with warm air, sunshine, fresh breeze, and the promise of rain to keep the pasture green and the water flowing.
This is a photo Bob took during the birth that I had sent to Karen and my folks last night, but thought I’d share with any other dog lovers (and Alan fans!) as a reminder of how much a part of the family our dogs can be, right there with us, helping us through the birthing!
Bob not only took birthing photos, but videos as well. I posted one of baby’s first step. If you’d like, please see the link on YouTube. In the video, baby is only an hour old, mama still has her placenta. Baby gets up, no matter how unruly those long legs are to manage, and begins looking to nurse right away.
