She had gotten it out of Bon Appetite Magazine about 20 years ago. I started making the pie every year for Thanksgiving for my own family, and I have been the official Pumpkin Pie maker for the holidays ever since. I recommend it to everyone. A little more work involved but soooo worth it. :) Thank you for posting this... I looked for it online because I didn't want to have to dig through a box ( I just relocated) to find it this year. It's the only pumpkin pie I eat! However, I may branch out on Christmas and make this one... it looks delicious and uses a lot of the same seasonings as Mom's but with the added "chiffon".
