Gin, I only recently started reading highmountain musings. I did not realize you were so talented. Your writing is so poetic....and so is your photography!
It is a way I can visit the "our" mountains and valley without being there.

Al - I am so impressed with the work done at the Arboretum. (More so after having enjoyed that slide show) What a thrill to be involved with such a wonderful group - and the "product" is so rewarding. It is a pleasure to be able to "talk" gardens with someone again, even if our garden locations are, well, a little bit different. I suppose a green thumb is a green thumb, even if it's wrapped in mittens.

Lisa (my wacky friend from waco) - I'm so glad you commented on that picture of Crow & Tres. I took a whole bunch of pictures all day, and of course that one was my favorite. The boys, however, differed. No surprise.

Janice - this last storm dumped its load FAST! Between around 3 pm and when I woke up, it put down about 25 inches. It doesn't usually do that. That is what we call "a good storm." We used to make snow candy too! A different way, but sounds yummy too. We'd get a pan of snow, and drizzle molasses over the top, stir it up, and oh boy... good stuff.

Gin, the snow is beautiful, how long did it take to accumulate that much snow? When I was a kid if and when we got enough snow to pile up, we take the dish pan and put all the snow we could get and make snow icecream. We would mix milk and or cream, sugar and vinalla or coco. We were in hog heaven when we could do that. Oh well so much for the good ole days . Stay warm, Janice

Gin,

Your photos and writing today are just a treat! Thanks for putting these photos up. Haven't seen fresh snow like that since I was kid back in the 20'th century A.D.

Last Tueday, we spent planting several thousand tulips, etc. in pots for eventual display along walkways at the Arboretum. Just about done with planting 500,000 bulbs this year in the gardens.

I appreciate the uncommon way you have expressing both the blessings and hardships of the various life experiences you explore here. And the fact that your blessings always seem to outweigh your hardships.

Bob and Forrest must be fun to watch in snow like this.
